IMPRESSIVE CARVED EMERALD

CARVED EMERALD (PIVOTAL) won her maiden in quite spectacular fashion in Deauville yesterday. With 300m to go in last position she burst through under an inspired ride from MAXIME FOULON, to win in a 3 horse photo finish. She will be one to watch in stakes races in the fall.
DOCTOR DINO IN DEAUVILLE

The trainer has announced this morning that if the ground dries up in Deauville, the multiple group one winning globetrotter will line up in the GRAND PRIX DE DEAUVILLE. With the famous Normandy rain it looks like it's going to be a last minute decision.

Its been the busiest month of the season with racing and sales all week. ILIE NASTASE (ROYAL APPLAUSE) just missed out in a photo in the inaugural running of the HERMES CUP in DEAUVILLE. MAXIME FOULON rode his 4th winner from 5 rides for the stable with an impressive win in the 13 500 conditions race at Vichy today. RIOKA (CAPTAIN RIO) was winning for the second time for the MAUREEN SHENKMAN colours.

Nearer to home CARVED EMERALD (PIVOTAL) will debut at FOLKESTONE over 1400m on thursday. Both fillies will be ridden by TEDDY RICHER.

YES MATE (LORD OF MEN) became the third top earning 2YO in the country, with her comfortable win yesterday in COMPIEGNE. The filly was recording her second win and will now be aimed for the Prix du Calvados (G3) in DEAUVILLE. Another winning ARQANA purchase from MAB AGENCY.

DOCTOR DINO ran another brave race continuing his incredible record of finishing in the first three in his last nine Group One starts. Although badly placed in the race he was never going to challenge the impressive YOUMZAIN. His many fans will be pleased to hear that he looks in good shape this morning... so we will see in due course where he is headed next.

DOCTOR DINO is gearing up for another big race this weekend at ST CLOUD. OLIVER PESLIER is "excited" about the race and the prep for the 6YO has been very straightforward since the CHANTILLY win. With hot weather forecasted and a star studded field it promises to be another great race.

The horses are in top form and the stable is currently hitting a purple patch. The last 50 runners have boasted a 18.7% strike rate with nearly 70% of all runners finishing in the prizemoney.

JOHN LIVOCK's 4YO won his 4th career win under a confident ride from TEDDY RICHER at MAISONS LAFITTE today. First time blinkers did the trick for the ARQANA colt bought by CHARLIE GORDON WATSON. Trainer describes him as "an improving miler for Deauville".

This tough 3YO filly hadn't been out of the first three in all of her 7 starts (stakes placed) but won comfortably the 11 000 euros maiden today at SAINT CLOUD. The MAUREEN SHENKMAN colours were winning for the first time so watch out for the champagne celebrations tonight!

TEDDY RICHER won again yesterday at LIGNIERES with MIXEDUP (OCEAN OF WISDOM). The 4YO was winning his second race for RUPERT STEPHENSON, who was one of the first owners in the yard. Don't forget this horse's name for the DEAUVILLE meeting !

ZANNKIYA (SENDAWAR) wins on debut ridden by T. RICHER at NORT SUR ERDRE racetrack. Trainer described it as a "proud moment" as the filly was his first winner for the famous Aga Khan silks.

NICO DE BOINVILLE, our 2008 pupil assistant, had his first rides as a French Gentleman Amateur Rider. Finishing a respectable 3rd with BLUE ROCKIES and 2nd on COMMON PURPOSE at FONTAINEBLEAU, Nico returned with a bleeding nose after his first ride and this talented amateur is already looking for new rides next weekend !

ZALIYM (CADEAU GENEREUX) leaves our stable on thursday morning in his bid to become the first French trained winner of this Madrid showpiece. There is about 1800 kms of travel so we are hoping that the 3YO can cope with the long trip. He will be ridden by local jockey R. Borrego.

It's been a busy breeze up week in both TATTERSALLS and ARQANA. Despite the strong UK market we came back with a sharp looking ACCLAMATION colt. MAB AGENCY bought the sales topper MEDAGLIA D'ORO filly and a really smart ANABAA colt and both are settling in well.
LESSING in Guineas Trial

LESSING (ORPEN) was close 3rd in the PRIX DE LA GROTTE (G3) behind the impressive ZARKAVA. LESSING has continued to improve and the trainer is aiming for PRIX SANDRINGHAM (G2) on FRENCH DERBY day as an objective. LESSING is one to follow as she may well run in America later in the season.

VERBA wins at Maisons Laffitte

VERBA (Anabaa), 3rd in the Prix Miesque (G3) last year, won the conditions race in testing conditions (snowing ! ) over 1200m ridden by THIERRY THULLIEZ. She won 29 000 euros, which is a good example of the 63% French Bred premiums on offer. The filly is under the joint ownership of V. BUKHTOYAROV and E. MORDUKHOVITCH and she was bought at the DEAUVILLE ARQANA Sales by MAB AGENCY. The filly is entered in both the English and Irish 1000 GUINEAS so she will be one to follow !
SANDOWN PARK comes to town

DAVID MACKINNON, MD and Racing Director of Sandown Park and clerk of the course ANDREW COOPER accompanied by JOHNNO SPENCER visited the yard and the prestigious training track facilities.
They generously hosted a foie gras dinner to promote the CORAL ECLIPSE G1 where many other Chantilly professionals were present.
DOCTOR DINO grabs bronze medal in Dubai

DOCTOR DINO was third in the SHEEMA CLASSIC (G1) ridden by OLIVIER PESLIER where he won 500,000 USD in prize money.
Another great run from the globe trotting veteran and both the trainer and the jockey felt that with a better draw (15/16) he would have improved his post position.
ERIC GANDON phoned in to say that the horse has taken his race well.
We will wait until he is back home before making any future race plans.

Our jockey plans remain unchanged from last year, in that we hope that OLIVIER PESLIER and THIERRY THULLIEZ will be available as much as possible, and we also welcome CHRISTOPHE SOUMILLION to the team. TEDDY RICHER, my apprentice of last season has just lost his claim and he will continue to ride the majority of the province runners.

DOCTOR DINO in Dubai

DOCTOR DINO (Muhtathir), the yard flagbearer of 2007 (MAN O WAR G1, HONG KONG VASE G1) remains in training and is already well advanced in his preparation for the SHEEMA CLASSIC in DUBAI. The horse has kept himself in very good nick this winter and won't require a prep race.
French racegoers might get a chance to see him on March 8th at St Cloud, where he is going for some paddock schooling.

We intend to race on the DEAUVILLE all weather track in March for our first runners of the season and won't race on the turf until the ground dries out and we get some sprint sunshine. It was 2° C and hailing this morning!
Exciting recruit for Melbourne Cup

VAREVEES (Kahyasi), our highest rated new recruit of 2008, was bought privately in a deal brokered by DERMOT FARRINGTON. This 5YO Group 3 winning filly will be aimed at the major staying races in Europe and it is our long term goal to run in the MELBOURNE CUP in November.
