MORES WELLS HEADING TO SWEDEN

MORES WELLS is heading to TABY in SWEDEN for Europe's richest group three on September 12th. The 6YO horse will be travelling 1 800 kms with overnight stays in Germany and Southern Sweden.

LA JOIE DE VIVRE (DURING) broke his maiden at CLAIREFONTAINE under stable apprentice ALEXIS ACHARD who was recording his first PMU winner. The LANSDON ROBBINS home bred is the brother to stakes winner CHANTILLY CREME who was also trained by RGG.

Our regular blogger has returned from "holiday" this morning! Deauville racing continues in the rain tomorrow with SIDNEY GIRL running in the big 'cap. The trainer said he was "pleased for owners" that the yearling prices had become "more realistic and affordable". Those wishing to see the yearling list can email Anne in the office.

The famous DEAUVILLE season kicks off on thursday with one month of racing and yearling sales on the Normandy coast. The trainer has taken 4 boxes this year for the meet and expects to be "very busy particularly in the first half". Owners needing any help on accomodation or travel should conatct Anne in the office.

MIXEDUP'S HATRICK

MIXEDUP (OCEAN OF WISDOM) is the stable's pacemaker for morning trackwork. He is also the schoolmaster for apprentices and amateur riders. Today he picked up the GRAND PRIX DE LA ROCHE POSAY under stable apprentice ALEXIS ACHARD...recording a hatrick of wins from his last three starts.

KHELWA IMPRESSES

OLIVIER PESLIER picked up a "good spare ride" at MAISONS LAFITTE yesterday with KHELWA winning the 27 000 filly conditions race. The TRADITIONALLY AGA KHAN STUDS homebred recorded her first win after two encouraging second placed starts. The trainer said that it was likely that the filly will be aimed at a stakes race in DEAUVILLE.

NORTHERN AFFAIR

NORTHERN AFFAIR (GIANT'S CAUSEWAY) won her maiden yesterday in SENNONNES in convincing fashion. The well bred filly was carrying the renouned silks of RICK BARNES and will be aimed at DEAUVILLE conditions races next month.

HOT WEEKEND

With temperatures reaching 36° the horses coped well with the hot travel. BUNGUR (HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR) won with ease in VITTEL following a decent debut weeks earlier at MAISONS LAFITTE. PRIDE CELEBRE was recording her first win in France , since her arrival this spring from IRELAND. The game 4YO PEINTRE CELEBRE mare will be targetting the DEAUVILLE tierce handicaps in August.

VALLEE DES NEIGES

VALLEE DES NEIGES (VERGLAS) broke her leg today at COMPEIGNE when leading the field in the final furlong of the 2YO maiden, injuring her jockey CP LEMAIRE. The trainer said he was "devastated for the owners " and hopes "Christophe makes a swift recovery".

MIXEDUP ( OCEAN OF WISDOM) continued his winning ways with back to back wins in the 'big cap at AMIENS yesterday. The 6YO is the pacemaker for the stable and is rarely seen out in public...the trainer said as a "reward"he won't be on Les Aigles next week !

MORES WELLS (SADLER 'S WELLS) faces seven in the GRAND PRIX DE SAINT CLOUD G1 on sunday. The trainer said that the horse has gained alot morale running in lower category races and is expecting a "big run from the warrior".He also added that the horse was "unlucky not to unbeaten his his last five starts".

MIXEDUP'S MEDAL DAY

MIXEDUP (OCEAN OF WISDOM) is a 6YO rig who knows the Chantilly gallops like no other horse. He is owned by the trainer and acts as pacemaker in most of the gallops. He is often used as a school master for apprentices or amateur riders having their first day on the gallops. He had a rare racecourse outing and managed to win with the apprentice in MONTIER EN DER...the trainer paid the pain au chocolate for the team yesterday breakfast !

KING'S WARRIOR (KINGS BEST) finished second today at MAISONS LAFFITTE winning 9 500 euros prizemoney. The 3YO was running in the silks of PAUL HANCOCK who was having his first runner in FRANCE. This was a " promising 2010 debut and one to follow for the season".

TIMARIKA (SINNDAR) won her maiden in comfortable style yesterday ridden by JEAN MICHEL BREUX. The 42 yr old jockey is one of the oldest on the circuit and he said he was "emotional and privileged" to ride a winner for the famous AGA KHAN silks.

STEPHANE PASQUIER our first choice jockey broke his tibia after a paddock fall and looks to be out for six weeks. All the team wish him a swift recovery.In the meantime the trainer said he would take "the best available policy".

ARGUN RIVER (OASIS DREAM ) got up in the final stride to take the spoils in the TIERCE HANDICAP at SAINT CLOUD picking up a 45K cheque for his owners. The trainer admited to be delighted with the win as "the race was goal posted since early March".

MORES WELLS (SADLER'S WELLS) who is the old boy of the stable, continues his improvement with a cosy win at SAINT CLOUD on tuesday. Ridden by S PASQUIER the 6YO horse will now be aimed at stakes races. On the same card the trainer was "more than pleased" with the 2010 debut of FLYING GRACE (MUHTATHIR) who finished third.

The trainer breezed over to NEWMARKET for the sales and picked up a couple of "summer 2YO " fillies by DANSILI and OASIS DREAM. Bought by MAB AGENCY for a new client, both horses are already on their way to HARAS DU MEZERAY for some paddock rest before coming to CHANTILLY.

PATINACK'S FIRST EUROPE WIN

NATHAN TINKLER from PATINACK FARMS IN AUSTRALIA had their first winner in Europe with HAFJELL yesterday in CHOLET. The 3YO TIGER HILL filly won comfortably on debut and the trainer said it was a "Paris standard filly".

After an easy workout on the RESERVOIRS gallop this morning, the trainer announced that RICCI will be supplemented for the PRIX DJEBEL next Thursday. The trainer said the "improving horse is so well that he has to take his chance" in this G3 GUINEAS TRIAL.

The trainer took 7 horses up to DEAUVILLE on an overnight trip to gallop on the AW track. Due to the very dry Chantilly weather conditions the horses have been unable to do any fast work. The work riders were delighted to get a "LE DRAKKAR" brunch with the trainer before returning home !

RICCI (HIGHEST HONOR) made it three wins out of three with a wire to wire win in COMPIEGNE today. This was the first winner of the season and the trainer said afterwards "it's nice to be back in the winners' enclosure after a long cold winter".

The Paris flat season kicks off on 5th March in DEAUVILLE, despite the long winter the trainer hopes to have "half a dozen runners" in the first fortnight of racing. Look out for ARGUN RIVER and RICCI in the first week.

ANZAS (ANABAA) winner of 3 races and of the top earning colts in the country last year has been shipped to Dubai in preparation for the Carnival. The colt will return to the stable for his 3YO campaign.

The trainer looked in good spirits this morning as the main team have started cantering following their winter regime. He said earlier that he will "wait a while longer for the fillies" but most of the colts were on the main track this morning. Paris racing resumes in late February.

DIVAPOUR (DAYLAMI) won in dominent style at LYON PARILLY yesterday. The AGA KHAN STUDS 2YO homebred looks a good prospect for next season. MORES WELLS managed to beat the judge to take the spoils in a tight finish in the LISTED GRAND PRIX. However the stewards were less forthcoming and he was demoted to second, which the trainer described as a "harsh decision".

CHANTILLY CREME (JOHANNESBURG) won her stakes race yesterday ridden by RONAN THOMAS in LA TESTE BORDEAUX. The filly was "brave" to head the SIR MARK PRESCOTT trained filly in the last quarter. The LANSDON ROBBINS homebred is currently the 4th highest 2YO earner in the country.

It didn't seem that long ago that we were complaining about the frost ! Now its 30° plus which is causing problems. Its showertime twice a day for the horses and we are now training at 05H00...so don't call the trainer in early afternoon as he might be snoring !

MORES WELLS (SADLER'S WELLS) is due to kick off his campaign in the VASE D'ARGENT in TOULOUSE ridden by CHRISTOPHE SOUMILLON. The 5YO will have first time blinkers over this 2000m trip.The trainer described the horse as a "bit rusty" and will improve a lot for the run.

Many of the visitors to the yard will be saddened to hear of the passing on of TRANK, the old dog that greeted them on their arrival in the yard. For fourteen years he was never kicked or trodden on by a horse which itself was amazingly fortunate....only the postman will be smiling tonight !

TATTS BREEZE UPS

The trainer spent a couple of days at the breeze up sale in TATTS. Heading to Chantilly are a nice DANEHILL DANCER colt (lot 143) and a sharp WHIPPER filly (lot 146). The trainer was also underbidder on the top lot and described the market as "very strong for the top performers". The nightwatchman was very surprised to see the trainer arrive at 3H00 in the yard after driving back from Newmarket... and on his hack a few hours later for first lot!!!

ARBAT BELLO (ANABAA) won his maiden yesterday at MOULINS picking up the 10,000 winning cheque. This was the first win for the BUKHTOYAROV colours after a series of eight second places !

It's been really touching to receive all of Doctor Dino's fanmail (as far away as Australia, South Africa and even Algeria) and we really want to thank all those people who have been in touch. The good news is that MAB AGENCY has received plenty of interest concerning his stud career and we hope to make an announcement next week.

DOCTOR DINO HAS BEEN RETIRED

The stable has announced this morning the retirement of their champion DOCTOR DINO due to a tendon injury after his previous race. The trainer thanked and praised the "dedication and precision" of his excercise rider ERIC GANDON and OLIVIER PESLIER who was "superlative" as his big race jockey. The trainer simply said "DOCTOR DINO gave us everything and more and has taken us to a level of global racing that you could only dream about. Race fever is hotting up in Dubai with the draws announced last night. OLIVIER PESLIER seemed perfectly happy with his 13 stall. ERIC GANDON put the horse through his final paces this morning in the pouring rain. The forecast is not good so the trainer is keeping his fingers crossed that track conditions are not affected for saturday's showpiece.

The trainer took a team of horses to the turf gallops for the first time of the season.These horses will be running in the first week of March. Last year Chantilly training centre reported that there were over 20 000 times that horses galloped on the grass. It is to their credit that the track remains in such good condition.

FIRST WINNER WITHOUT A RUNNER

RICHARDGIBSONRACING.COM was surprised to learn today that they had their first winner of the term without going to the racetrack ! LE XENAKIS (ANABAA BLUE) finished second in COMPIEGNE in late October and the trainer was informed by FRANCE GALOP this morning that the winner of the race was disqualified for prohibited substances. The official result means that LE XENAKIS is the winner of the race and the owner has been credited with the winning prizemoney....a lucky story to start the season !

ST MORITZ PLAN

The MORDUKHOVITCH/BUKHTOYAROV partnership is keen to take up the exciting challenge of running in the GRAND PRIX DE ST MORITZ with BLUE ROCKIES. Final plans have been delayed until a further report on the track conditions. Last week the lake was not completely frozen and there was only racing on a 800m straight ! The trainer will make a final decision next week to insure full safety for the horse and jockey.

The owners have decided to keep the 7YO in training after a long discussion with the trainer, who reported that the horse had recovered well since HK. VERBA (Anabaa), 3rd in the Prix Miesque (G3) last year, won the conditions race in testing conditions (snowing ! ) over 1200m ridden by THIERRY THULLIEZ. She won 29 000 euros, which is a good example of the 63% French Bred premiums on offer. The filly is under the joint ownership of V. BUKHTOYAROV and E. MORDUKHOVITCH and she was bought at the DEAUVILLE ARQANA Sales by MAB AGENCY. The filly is entered in both the English and Irish 1000 GUINEAS so she will be one to follow !

They generously hosted a foie gras dinner to promote the CORAL ECLIPSE G1 where many other Chantilly professionals were present.

DOCTOR DINO grabs bronze medal in Dubai

DOCTOR DINO was third in the SHEEMA CLASSIC (G1) ridden by OLIVIER PESLIER where he won 500,000 USD in prize money. Another great run from the globe trotting veteran and both the trainer and the jockey felt that with a better draw (15/16) he would have improved his post position. ERIC GANDON phoned in to say that the horse has taken his race well. We will wait until he is back home before making any future race plans.

LESSING (Orpen) winner of Prix Ronde Nuit (L) in Deauville has arrived in good health. YAN DUREPAIRE leading spanish trainer in Madrid has done a great job with the filly and we hope to maintain her good race record!

DOCTOR DINO set sails

DOCTOR DINO left the yard this morning in a hail storm on his way to Dubai. ERIC GANDON his excercice rider and AYMERIC CANDAS (travelling head man) accompanied the horse in the HIPAVIA horsevan to Bruxelles airport.

2008 Jockey plans

Our jockey plans remain unchanged from last year, in that we hope that OLIVIER PESLIER and THIERRY THULLIEZ will be available as much as possible, and we also welcome CHRISTOPHE SOUMILLION to the team. TEDDY RICHER, my apprentice of last season has just lost his claim and he will continue to ride the majority of the province runners.

We have made less classic entries for the 3YO's than in previous years.

VERBA (Anabaa) is entered in English and Irish 1000 GUINEAS.

Other classic entries include RED CATTIVA (Red Ransom) and SOTTOVOCE (Xaar).

DOCTOR DINO in Dubai

DOCTOR DINO (Muhtathir), the yard flagbearer of 2007 (MAN O WAR G1, HONG KONG VASE G1) remains in training and is already well advanced in his preparation for the SHEEMA CLASSIC in DUBAI. The horse has kept himself in very good nick this winter and won't require a prep race.

French racegoers might get a chance to see him on March 8th at St Cloud, where he is going for some paddock schooling.

We intend to race on the DEAUVILLE all weather track in March for our first runners of the season and won't race on the turf until the ground dries out and we get some sprint sunshine. It was 2° C and hailing this morning!

Exciting recruit for Melbourne Cup

VAREVEES (Kahyasi), our highest rated new recruit of 2008, was bought privately in a deal brokered by DERMOT FARRINGTON. This 5YO Group 3 winning filly will be aimed at the major staying races in Europe and it is our long term goal to run in the MELBOURNE CUP in November.
