Richard
Richard Gibson started training in 1997 and his career has progressed on an upward curve ever since.
In 2007, his horses broke the 2,000,000 euros in prize money barrier for the first time and recorded outstanding wins in Man O’ War Stakes at Belmont, New York and the Hong Kong Vase in Sha Tin.
It is not as if such successes hadn’t been coming as the trainer had hit Group One successes as early as 1999 with Lady of Chad (Champion European filly), Marotta (St Alary G1) 2003, Lune D’Or (Darley Lydia Tesio G1) 2004.
Northumbrian born Gibson started working as an assistant trainer throughout ‘90s. He originally learned his trade with HA Pantall in the west of France (4 years). During the off-season he worked consecutive winters in California with Gary Jones and subsequently in Florida with Bill Mott during the famous Cigar era. On his return to Europe Richard became assistant to Pascal Bary for two seasons during the French Derby wins of Ragmar and Dream Well.
Richard has won over 300 races worldwide and has recorded wins in Dubai, UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, USA and Hong Kong and even Kazakhstan as well as competing in Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and St Moritz on the snow.
